My client is the leading wind turbine manufacturer. They are a dominate force in the supply of on and offshore wind turbine and are renowned for their unmatched  quality.  As the major player in the offshore wind market my client is a wind company that can offer exciting opportunities in the wind sector. They have manufactured and installed a large number of the wind developments internationally in both the on and offshore wind market. They are a strong customer focused company who aims to work at the highest level and ensure that their company name remains a recognised brand in the wind sector. The role will either be based in Greater London, UK or Hamburg, Germany.

My client is
looking to recruit a director of sales to oversee their offshore wind turbine sales operations in the European market. This position will require managing a team from home and afar while still working closely with the senior sales managers in regions across Europe. The European Sales director will be reporting directly to the VP of sales and will be key part of their continued growth in the European market.

Responsibilities:-

  • ·         Develop and implement strategic sales plans, forecasts and performance goals to achieve corporate objectives for offshore turbnine sales
  • ·         Develop and manage sales operating budgets.  Analyzes and controls expenditures of division to conform to budgetary requirements
  • ·         Develop and recommend product positioning, packaging, and pricing strategy to produce the highest possible long-term market share
  • ·         Demonstrate ability to lead Sales team towards results
  • ·         Manage performance of sales management and representative organizations
  • ·         Oversee monthly sales forecasts and sales strategies for each region
  • ·         Review and analyze sales performances against programs, quotes and plans to determine effectiveness
  • ·         Full authority to represent them in all matters relating to securing future orders for wind turbines in the European regions covered
  • ·         Establishing a long-term business platform in Europe, with a focus on  the UK market for delivering and executing wind turbine supply on a supply and erect basis only or on a turnkey EPC basis with a local contractors/partners
  • ·         Responsibility for sales activities and strategy developments throughout
  • ·         Overseeing the entire sales team in Europe
  • ·         Coordinate the senior sales team and through that the sales managers, managing the entire sales operations in your region across Europe
  • ·         You will oversee that negotiations of terms and conditions with developers across Europe
  • ·         Direct their turbine sales operation in Europe and work closely with the international team to best expand my clients growth across Europe
  • ·         You will manage a team of top level sales managers who will be working independently on a variety of projects
  • ·         You will oversee the bid processes for a large number of projects overseeing the entire negotiations and contract process that your senior sales managers are involved in
  • ·         Ensure all deals meet revenue and margin expectations for the wind energy company and that your team is performing within the framework of the company
  • ·         You will ensure that your team is developing and managing a pipeline across Europe that supports the company’s growth strategy in large offshore wind turbine sales
  • ·         You will oversee the negotiations of long and complex bids and contract negotiations  that can span a 2+ years period of negotiations
  • ·         Work with the Directors and Vice Presidents of the technical, legal and projects teams providing support for the negotiations process with the developers, government departments and utilities
  • ·         Your teams will be in charge of the final stage bid process with offshore wind farm developers across 5 countries in Europe
  • ·         You will ensure that the senior sales managers are achieving their targets of securing multi million Euro(€) contracts
  • ·         You will focus on multiple projects with the ability to manage individuals who are working independently and do not require micro-management

Education:-

Must have and exceptional educational background.

Core Requirements:-

  • You will have 10 – 15 years sales experience, with a proven track record in the energy, renewable energy, oil & gas, construction and/or power generation  sectors
  • The ideal candidate will have at least 3-5 years sales and busines development expereince in the wind offshore industry
  • ·         You must have overseen contract negotiations of large scale multi million Euro(€) or Pound(£) negotiations
  • ·         You must have a proven ability and temperament to work on long term contracts minimum 1 year
  • ·         You must have a desire to work on long term projects
  • ·         An excellent understanding of regulatory requirements in the wind industry in Europe
  • ·         Ability to work under deadline pressure and deliver high quality results
  • ·         Proven ability to communicate across all levels of an organization and work closely with VP level managers in a large international company
  • ·         Ability to manage multiple large scale projects
  • ·         A background in wind project development is a plus

General Requirements:-

  • Ability to travel across Europe
  • ·         Proficient with making impactful presentations and managing a team of high level employees
  • ·         Ability to manage multiple projects in an environment of constantly changing priorities
  • ·         The ability to manage multiple teams from various site across Europe
  • ·         Excellent ability to communicate and work in English is a must with the ability to communicate in German a bonus
  • ·         Experience working in the UK and/or German markets
  • Ability to work independently but within tightly controlled business policies

Key Skills:-

Energy, renewable energy, oil & gas, construction and/or power generation experience , negotiations experience, business development, sales of wind turbines or large wind projects , exceptional team leadership skills, experience with complex contact negotiations and complex stakeholder and customer management experience.
