Description

My client is an international manufacturer of wind generators; they have a strong focus on the European market and have cemented themselves as industry leaders. They have developed one of the most powerful generators in the market and are increasing their sales activity internationally in order to continue the growth and development of their market share.

Position Overview:

My client is looking to recruit a European director of business development in order to grow the company’s influence in the European market and generate new sales opportunities. This position will require managing a team from home and afar while still working closely with the senior sales managers in regions across Europe. The European business development director will be reporting directly to the Head of Operations and will be key part of their continued growth in the European market.

Responsibilities:-

  •          You will be the key contact of the company in order to develop strong relationships with new and existing contacts in the wind market. Ensuring that my client is in the bid process of projects in Europe.
  •          You will travel extensively across Europe developing and maintaining key relationships in the wind market
  •          Develop and implement strategic sales plans, forecasts and performance goals to achieve corporate objectives for projects within Europe
  •          Demonstrate ability to lead negotiations team towards results
  •          You will manage the development of initial relationships with developers, operators, manufacturers and investors of wind projects in order to achieve the end result of project development in the offshore wind market across Europe.
  •          Manage performance of sales team and representative organizations
  •          Ensure all deals meet revenue and margin expectations for the wind energy company and that your team is performing within the framework of the company
  •          Work with the Directors and Vice Presidents of the technical, legal and projects teams providing support for the negotiations process with the developers, government departments and utilities

Education:-

PHD or MSc in Science or Engineering discipline or equivalent

Core Requirements:-

  •          You will have 5-8 years business development or sales experience in the wind market
  •          You must have 10+ years experience in the wind industry
  •          You will have 2-3 years working on the technical side of the wind market either engineering or project management
  •          An excellent understanding of regulatory requirements in the wind industry in Europe
  •          Ability to work under deadline pressure and deliver high quality results
  •          Proven ability to communicate across all levels of an organization and work closely with VP level managers in a large international company
  •          Ability to manage multiple large scale projects

General Requirement

  •          Ability to travel across Europe
  •          Ability to manage multiple projects in an environment of constantly changing priorities
  •          Ability to work independently but within tightly controlled business policies
  •          Excellent ability to communicate and work in English is a must with the ability to communicate in other European languages

Key Skills:-

Energy, renewable energy, construction, negotiations experience, business development, sales of wind turbines/generators or large wind projects, exceptional team leadership skills, project managers, experience with complex contact negotiations and complex stakeholder and customer management experience.
