My client is a european market leader in the developement of cleaner air solutions with a strong focus on the solar and Wind sector. They are involved in the development of major projects across europe in the offshore wind market and are looking to expand their business development team in order to continue this growth in Europe.  


Core Criteria:
My client is
looking to recruit a European director of business development in order to grow the companies use as a developer within the European offshore wind market. This position will require managing a team from home and afar while still working closely with the senior sales managers in regions across Europe. The European business development director will be reporting directly to the Head of Operations and will be key part of their continued growth in the European market.

Responsibilities:-

  • ·         You will be the key contact of the company in order to develop strong relationships with new and existing contacts in the offshore wind market. Ensuring that my client is in the bid process of all project developments in Europe.
  • ·         You will travel extensively across Europe developing and maintaining key relationships in the offshore wind market
  • ·         Develop and implement strategic sales plans, forecasts and performance goals to achieve corporate objectives for offshore project within Europe
  • ·         Demonstrate ability to lead negotiations team towards results
  • ·         You will manage the development of initial relationships with developers, operators, manufacturers and investors of offshore wind project in order to achieve the end result of project development in the offshore wind market across Europe.
  • ·         Manage performance of sales management and representative organizations
  • ·         Review and analyze sales performances against programs, quotes and plans to determine effectiveness
  • ·         Full authority to represent my client in all matters relating to securing future projects in the Europe offshore wind market
  • ·         Establishing a long-term business platform in Europe with a strong focus on Germany, France and the UK
  • ·         Responsibility for business development activities and strategy developments throughout Europe
  • ·         You will oversee that negotiations of terms and conditions with developers, operators and manufacturers on key accounts across Europe
  • ·         You will oversee the bid processes for a large number of projects overseeing the entire negotiations and contract process that the team of negotiators is involved in
  • ·         Ensure all deals meet revenue and margin expectations for the wind energy company and that your team is performing within the framework of the company
  • ·         Manage a pipeline across Europe that supports the company’s growth strategy in offshore wind projects
  • ·         Work with the Directors and Vice Presidents of the technical, legal and projects teams providing support for the negotiations process with the developers, government departments and utilities
  • ·         You will achieving targets of securing multi million Euro(€) contracts
  • ·         You will focus on multiple projects with the ability to manage individuals who are working independently and do not require micro-management

Education:-

PHD or MSc in Science or Engineering discipline or equivalent

Core Requirements:-

  • You will have 5-8 years business development experience in the offshore wind market
  • ·         You must have a strong technical understanding of the offshore wind market
  • ·         You must have a proven ability and temperament to work on long term contracts minimum 1 year
  • ·         An excellent understanding of regulatory requirements in the offshore wind industry in Europe
  • ·         Ability to work under deadline pressure and deliver high quality results
  • ·         Proven ability to communicate across all levels of an organization and work closely with VP level managers in a large international company
  • ·         Ability to manage multiple large scale projects
  • ·         A background in the offshore wind market in Europe
  • ·           

General Requirement

  • Ability to travel across Europe
  • ·         Proficient with making impactful presentations
  • ·         Ability to manage multiple projects in an environment of constantly changing priorities
  • ·         The ability to manage multiple teams from various site across Europe
  • ·         Excellent ability to communicate and work in English is a must with the ability to communicate in German, Spanish or French a bonus
  • Ability to work independently but within tightly controlled business policies

Key Skills:-

Energy, renewable energy, construction, negotiations experience, business development, sales of wind turbines or large wind projects, exceptional team leadership skills, project managers, experience with complex contact negotiations and complex stakeholder and customer management experience.
