Make the most of your engineering expertise and your leadership abilities with the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs.
You will review and recommend the approval of submissions to legislative environmental and resource management programs such as the nutrient management program and drainage program. You will provide expert analysis and advice to various stakeholders regarding environmental and resource management principles, methods and practices. You will act as a ministry expert in environmental and resource management engineering and legislative program requirements. You will liaise with industry and municipal, provincial and federal agency officials to provide input into the establishment of program and service priorities. You will also provide training and educational resources to clients.
Qualifications:This position requires full membership in good standing with the Professional Engineers of Ontario. Demonstrated knowledge of the theory, principles and practices of civil and/or agricultural engineering to provide expert level engineering expertise and assistance. Knowledge of environmental and land use policies and statutes, regulatory processes and practices, the agricultural industry and on/off farm practices to ensure a fair and equitable review of applications. Research and analytical skills to assess investigations of the viability and applicability of new environmental management methods, techniques and technology, and analyze the validity of research findings and prepare reports. Oral and written communication skills to develop and deliver educational and training materials for clients and present at public meetings. Judgment to ensure that agricultural environmental management practices are dealt with in a professional engineering manner to safeguard rural health, property and public welfare. Ability to travel within the region. Less qualified applicants may be considered on an underfill basis.
