The Opportunity

This is an opportunity to join a small team of specialists and gain experience on a wide range of interesting sites. The MoD is the third largest landowner in the UK and is at the beginning of a significant programme to improve the estate through redevelopment or sale of a large number of sites. You will help to ensure that sites are developed safely and where sites are sold, they bring value for money to the taxpayer.

The Role

The post holder will report to the Technical Services, Environmental and Ordnance Liability Management (EOLM), Senior Liability Manager for the delivery of outputs related to the management of land contamination through Land Quality Assessments and related activities.

Responsibilities

To provide specialist advice and guidance to programme and project managers on Land Quality aspects of:

  • Site management;
  • Sale of surplus land;
  • Sustainability appraisals;
  • Development proposals;
  • Active construction projects;

Specifically to:

  • Work closely with DIO staff and other relevant project stakeholders to ensure that Land Quality Assessments (LQAs) are carried out at the right time and to the appropriate standard;
  • Provide Authority oversight of external consultancy outputs, to ensure that they are of sufficient quality and provide value for money for the taxpayer;
  • Ensure that all MoD staff are supported with accurate advice and guidance on the land quality issues and legislation that may affect programme or project delivery.
