With have a vacancy for an experienced Environmental Adviser to assist in the co-ordination of all activities related to the implementation, development and maintenance of this client's Environmental Management System (EMS).  The successful applicant with also ensure compliance with legal and corporate requirements in addition to the requirements of ISO 14001:2004. The ideal applicant should have the following qualifications and experience:
Technical:
• Educated to degree level in a relevant environmental or scientific discipline
• A minimum of three years experience in construction or a related environment
• A qualified Internal Auditor with a minimum of three years experience of completing  internal audits.  Lead Auditor status beneficial but not essential
• An understanding of the requirements of BS EN ISO 14001:2004
• An Associate member of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA)
• A working knowledge of current and impending environmental legislation;
• CSCS qualification preferred
• Good presentation, written, analytical and IT skills
Management / interpersonal skills:
• Good interpersonal skills with the ability to guide and educate/train at all levels
• Self-confidence to build strong working relationships internally and externally.
The successful applicant will be required to:
• Act as Environmental Adviser to projects/activities/departments
• Co-ordinate and complete environmental planning meetings, risk assessments, inspections and audits.
• Ensure stakeholder requirements are identified and implemented on the client's projects
• Liaise with regulatory bodies as required.
• Complete on-the-job environmental training
• Induct staff into documented procedures and monitor induction rates
• Provide and facilitate recommendations for continual improvement.
• Promote best practice, using internal and external research.
• Provide accurate advice and aid in ensuring all employees participate in the maintenance
of a proactive management systems culture
•  Provide support to associated Group Companies.
The Environmental Adviser will report to the Senior Environmental & Quality Adviser. The main need is for a candidate to primarily support the Mid-West of England including, but not restricted to, Oxfordshire; Buckinghamshire; Gloucestershire; Warwick; Worcestershire; Leicestershire; Staffordshire; Derbyshire; Cheshire; or Lancashire.  Candidates in other neighbouring counties will be considered. This boundary is however not fixed, and the role may be required to work elsewhere in the UK depending upon workload.
