Responsible for assisting senior staff with pilot plant equipment assembly, equipment fabrication, and plant operation and maintenance in NREL’s Thermochemical User’s Facility in the National Bioenergy Center.
Job duties include installing mechanical equipment; minor electrical wiring of electro-mechanical equipment, heaters and data acquisition hardware; sensor calibration; preventative maintenance; insulating vessels and pipes; pilot plant operations; maintaining work area and tools in safe operating condition; maintaining an inventory of tools, parts, and other working supplies.
High School Diploma or equivalent and 4 or more years of experience or equivalent relevant education/experience.

Or, relevant Associate's Degree or certification program of comparable scope and 4 or more years of experience or equivalent relevant education/experience.
Substantial acquaintance with and understanding of general aspects of the job with a broad understanding of the detailed aspects of the job.

Intermediate to advanced skills in research techniques and practices. Good written, verbal, team, interpersonal and communication skills.
TIG and MIG welding of stainless steels, assembly and troubleshooting of electro-mechanical equipment, experience with Swagelok or similar tubing systems and basic electrical wiring.
