Electrical Engineering Manager, London, UK

My client is a global leader within the wind development sector, delivering services world wide for market leading developers, manufacturers, consultants and operators. To strengthen the existing design and power systems analysis team and position the department to meet the demands of the growing on-shore and offshore wind business, my client are now looking to recruit an Electrical Engineering Manager to be based in London.

Position Overview:

Reporting to the Group Chief Engineer, you will be required to manage the electrical design and power systems analysis teams throughout London and the rest of the UK and further develop and manage my client’s electrical design capabilities.

Responsibilities:-

• ·         Oversee resource, workload and budget planning
• ·         Develop and maintain the electrical engineering procedures
• ·         Ensure effective communication between the team and other engineering disciplines such as SCADA, Civil design and grid connections
• ·         Performance management, training and development
• ·         Manage the electrical engineering support provided to my client’s existing regions and new markets
• ·         Oversee performance management, training and development
• ·         Provide general electrical engineering support

Education:-

• ·         Must have a strong academic background with a degree in Engineering (electrical, mechanical, civil) or a related discipline.

Core Requirements:-

• ·         Must be able to demonstrate that you have the technical and management skills to lead an experienced and highly qualified team of engineers
• ·         Proven ability to work to demanding timescales and manage workloads effectively
• ·         Experience in Engineering risk management
• ·         Understanding of transformer design principles including winding design and protection requirements
• ·         Experience and knowledge of substation HV electrical plant
• ·         Familiarity with electrical system modeling software (eg. PSS/E, DIgSILENT)
• ·         A strong technical background in offshore wind
• ·         Excellent communication skills including report writing, presentation and the ability to speak confidently with clients, consultants, contractors and stakeholders
• ·         The ability to work with the CAD engineers in the production of engineering drawings
• ·         Experience of design and/or construction in the coastal or offshore sector
• ·         Chartered status in a relevant engineering Institution

• ·         Ability to work alone as well as part of a team
• ·         The ability to manage workload and meet demanding timescales on a number of projects simultaneously
