Education Communication Internship with BGCI Botanic Gardens Conservation International (BGCI) is the largest plant conservation network in the world. Our aim is to raise awareness of the importance of plants in supporting human-well-being and to ensure that no plant becomes extinct. Based in Kew, London, we work with member botanic gardens in more than 115 countries. From grassroots action to shaping government policies and priorities, we utilise our international network and expertise to achieve real conservation success. We are looking for an excellent communicator to help us promote BGCI’s education work to our members and as wide an audience as possible. This will involve developing the BGCI’s education centre (www.bgci.org/education) through sourcing news stories, creating web pages, disseminating information about project activities and developing our capacity to communicate more effectively through social media. We also need support with our biannual publication, Roots. Hours will be: 9.00-5.00 Mon-Fri (including 1 hour for lunch). Internship Requirements include:

This is the perfect opportunity for someone to be part of and contribute to the education work of a charitable organisation. Not only you will get involved in a variety of projects/activities run by the education team but you will be actively involved in disseminating information and reaching a variety of international audiences. We offer a friendly and busy environment that will enable you to find out about the world of botanic gardens’ and other museums’ education and develop contacts for future job opportunities. As part of the internship you will receive training in BGCI’s CMS and will obtain valuable work experience in using social media for promoting the work of BGCI’s education department.
