This projects goal is to empower those in poverty by enabling them to increase their income through engaging in well-paying economic activity that is environmentally sustainable in the long term. The volunteer program aims to facilitate a deeper learning experience about life in Guatemala, including environmental sustainability and agricultural economy at the grassroots level. There are volunteer opportunities in coffee agriculture (coffee fruit picking, coffee bean processing, planting coffee or other related crops, etc), community construction projects (school or biogas digester construction), appropriate technology development (designing and developing appropriate technology), and office administration (research, fundraising, marketing, etc).
Volunteers are asked to pay a £49 per week donation that contributes to program development. Hostel or home-stay lodging can be arranged for volunteers, starting from £26 per week. The project offers volunteers pre-departure and in-country planning and support.
