Description

SWT Ecology Services is a wholly owned subsidiary of Surrey Wildlife Trust (SWT).  SWT is the only local organisation in Surrey dedicated to ensuring Surrey is the place where both abundant wildlife and people can live and thrive together.  Guided by a collaborative vision where we all play a part in connecting nature, SWT Ecology Services provides expert advice and technical support to our clients, making sure the projects we are involved with lead others by example, while inspiring and educating people and organisations on the delivery of sustainable development.

The role

Requirements: Confident in undertaking ecological and biodiversity net gain assessments, protected species and habitat surveys, you must have 2-4 years of experience for this role. Excellent attention to detail and data management plus conversant in the biodiversity net gain metric and good understanding of legislation and planning policy are essential.

You must be ready to travel and work flexible hours and ideally have a CSCS card.  Given the role involves travelling around the county, you will need to have a valid UK driver’s licence and access to your own transport.  Our office is in Pirbright; we operate a flexi/hybrid working policy and aim to provide a good work/life balance whilst having an interesting and challenging working environment.

This is a permanent full-time role although part-time roles will also be considered.

Description: Supporting a team of expert ecologists, working on a diverse portfolio of projects, including large infrastructure projects, housing developments, private home-owners and landowners.  As an ecologist you will be undertaking ecological surveys and biodiversity net gain assessments, manage small projects and be working towards protected species licences and/or developing your botanical skills, leading field teams and preparing high quality technical reports.

Inclusion: We are committed to having an inclusive and diverse workplace and encourage applications from backgrounds which may be underrepresented in our sector, including people from minority ethnic backgrounds and people with disabilities.  We aim to offer an interview to all candidates that meet the essential criteria for the post.  Please let us know if you require any adjustment to make our recruitment process more accessible.

Application process

Please send a completed application form (available on our website), or CV and detailed covering letter to Gabbie Graham, SWT Ecology Services Managing Director, on swtes.recruitment@surreywt.org.uk by 5pm 28th October 2022
