Ecologist Aberystwyth, Wales Natural Power is a leading independent renewable energy consultancy and products provider offering consultancy, management and due diligence services across the onshore wind, offshore wind, wave, tidal and biomass sectors. The Ecology & Hydrology department within Natural Power is made up of a diverse range of ecologists and hydrologists with considerable technical experience and expertise from having worked on renewable projects for over twelve years The Role Due to the continued success of the Ecology and Hydrology department, we are looking to recruit an experienced Ecologist into our office in Aberystwyth, Wales. Reporting into the Senior Ecologist, some of the duties and responsibilities associated with the role include:
Qualifications and Experience You will hold a degree or equivalent in a biological, environmental or ecological discipline. Further to academic qualifications, it is essential that you have demonstrable experience in a similar role, fulfilling comparable duties and responsibilities as discussed above. You will be a full member of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management. You will also have specialist vegetation/habitat skills, specifically tailored for the renewable industry with suitable knowledge and experience to undertake ornithological field surveys and terrestrial ecological field surveys (i.e. otter, water vole and badger surveys). You will be aware of how construction can impact upon these species and what legislation and guidance is applicable for this. In addition to the above, you should have specialist ECoW skills and be familiar with the requirements of the role during the construction phase of a renewables development specifically onshore wind. Possessing a Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card would also be beneficial. You will have excellent interpersonal skills being able to build meaningful relationships with stakeholders at all levels involved in project; further to this, you will have the depth of character when called upon to act when things are not being done within guidelines. As a result of this, you will possess excellent communication skills being able to convey clear and concise information in both written and verbal format to colleagues, clients, contractors and third parties. You will be capable of producing technical reports and as a result, you will be a proficient user of I.T. software (Microsoft Office). Exposure to Document Management Systems and/or Enterprise Resource Planning software would be advantageous. Due to the nature of the role, you will be expected to be flexible with your time and standard duties. A full drivers’ licence is essential.
