The Ecology Co-op is seeking an ecologist with a minimum of two years’ experience to join its expanding team and both Consultant and Senior level ecologists will be considered. The candidate would be based in our head office in West Sussex, however flexible working terms are available. As an environmentally and socially responsible business, we work hard to ensure that our team do not have to make long journeys to cover regular work and therefore it is important that all applicants are either presently based in Surrey, East or West Sussex, or are willing to relocate. The closing date for this opportunity is 1st March 2021. The Ecology Co-op offers something unique in our industry. The successful candidate will be given shares in the company that you work for, meaning that you will benefit directly from the profitability of the company each year through dividend payments. This is in addition to generous TOIL and an annual bonus to remunerate for overtime worked during busy periods in the summer. We are looking for individuals that have experience of managing a range of different projects and must have at least one protected species survey license Within this role you will have the opportunity to undertake a broad range of ecological survey work. Experience of project management, proposal preparation, working with other environmental disciplines, and liaising with clients and consultees will all be essential attributes for the successful candidate. Experience working with a variety of protected species is of course desirable. Key Responsibilities You will work closely with the team in Sussex as well as collaborating with our staff in Kent, Devon and South Wales. This will be on a wide variety of projects, which are likely to include Ecological Impact Assessments, Habitats Regulations Assessments, mitigation and habitat creation, and protected species surveys.
