FIAPO's conceptualization can be traced back to the 2007 Asia for Animals Conference, where Indian activists who realised the importance of working together towards a common cause decided to work towards setting up the Federation of Indian Animal Protection Organisations. FIAPO's main aim is to help connect up, and inform, animal protection oragnisations and activists across India. We also undertake campaigns on which there is not significant work already going on in India. As work develops by existing (or new) organisations FIAPO will serve as support structure. The aim is to strengthen animal protection by strengthening organisations themselves; not to become an “alternative” to existing organisations but on the contrary, to be an expression of their strength and an amalgam of their collective expertise and passion.
