Description

The Director of Operations for International Programs will direct day-to-day, ongoing departmental operations to ensure effective delivery of top quality services and resources in support of USGBC’s mission. Key responsibilities: day-to-day management of International Programs and Policy department including budgetary management, staff oversight, and business metrics reporting; cross-departmental program management including representation of International Programs on USGBC’s Operations Committee; serve as regional manager for either China or the Middle East; and support relationships with related international organizations. The Director of Operations for International Programs will work directly with the Vice President of International Programs and Policy to establish departmental objectives and work plans in close coordination with the department managers and staff.

Specific Responsibilities Include:

  • Direct cross-departmental planning and implementation of international programs.
  • Manage annual budget, program, and staffing plans in collaboration with the Vice President of International Programs and Policy
  • Partner with the Education Department for project planning, implementation and evaluation for development and delivery of new and updated education offerings
  • Direct day-to-day staff, contractor, and volunteer activities. Recruit, train and manage key staff members to support departmental operations and growth in collaboration with the Vice President of International Programs and Policy
  • Support relationships with key international organizations and develop engagement strategy
  • Manage relationships with key regional partners and prospective partners
  • Collaborate with USGBC’s Chapters, LEED, Marketing and Communications, Membership, Operations, Policy and Technology teams to ensure effective coordination across program areas
  • Serve as a liaison to the International Task Force and other USGBC committees as appropriate.
  • Prepare regular program and financial progress reports
  • Serve as USGBC representative and/or spokesperson handling media inquiries as needed
  • Represent International department on Operations Committee to:
    • Determine short-term and long-term project business requirements of department processes
    • Work closely with rest of organizational department in order to implement business process changes while facilitating your organization department needs
    • Balance needs with wants within context of organizational capacity and resources to prioritize projects
    • Resolve inter-departmental dependencies and conflicts or elevate to the Executive Management Team

Related Organizational Goals and Objectives:

  • Encourage and accelerate global adoption of green building practices.
  • Offer a comprehensive portfolio of programs including technical tools and services supporting LEED products to meet the diverse needs of the building industry.
  • Earn widespread and routine endorsement by industry leaders and stakeholders.

Qualifications/Skills:

  • A minimum of 5 years in a leadership role with demonstrated abilities to manage rapid growth, projects with a high degree of complexity, and a diverse staff team. Entrepreneurial experience a plus
  • Masters of Business Administration or Master’s degree in a related field required
  • Language requirements: Fluency in English and written and verbal proficiency in at least one additional language which must include either Mandarin or Arabic.

  • Excellent analytical, organizational and financial management skills
