Description

My client is a leading solar power plant developer, providing clean energy to utilities and large energy users. They build, develop, finance and operate  large scale power plants and have a strong market presence globally.

With subsidiaries in the US, Europe and Southeast Asia are continuously looking to grow and maintain their position as a market leader. They are now looking to recruit a Director of their Engineering, Procurment & Construction business.


Position Overview:

They seek an target-focused energetic leader with a track record in managing cross-functional teams to develop and construct solar PV power plants. The Director of EPC will manage existing projects in various stages plus new projects from inception to construction. They will provide commercial contract oversight for the Engineering Procurement & Construction (EPC) management for multi megawatt solar power plants throughout the US. The  Director of EPC will be responsible  for preparing budgets, contracts and term sheets for the long term operations and maintenance of the facilities.

Responsibilities:-

  • ·         Manage the project development team responsible for the development and construction of large-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) projects
  • ·         Negotiate EPC contracts for multi-megawatt solar PV plants
  • ·         Manage and negotiate long-term contracts with partners, vendors, Legal teams and customers
  • ·         Ensure all deals meet revenue and margin expectations
  • ·         Manage projects by setting priorities and expectations, problem solving, communicating ongoing status updates
  • ·         Prepare and manage budget forecasts and vision for long term operations and maintenance (O&M) planning
  • ·         Oversee project controls and data management systems development
  • ·         Ensure compliance with requirements of all commercial contracts
  • ·         Negotiation and acquisition of lease agreements; securing grid connections and building permits
  • ·         Proactively sourcing new potential sites for development to grow the business
  • ·         Project negotiations (with diverse project partners like local developers, IPPs or utilities)
  • ·         Negotiating terms and closing deals
  • Due Diligence relating to specific projects, potential contractors and new projects
  • Participating in the draw up of bid documents and contracts
  • Evaluating and selecting offers from contractors
  • Planning and organizing of projects
  • Full responsibility of the commercial, technical and organisational interests on site
  • Supervise and oversee all commercial matters

Education:-

  • ·         Strong educational background, undergraduate degree in engineering and/or business related field

Core Requirements:-

  • ·         Minimum 5-7 years experience solar experience, with a proven track record in the development and construction of solar photovoltaic (PV) projects)
  • ·         Strong leadership qualities
  • ·         Excellent commercial experience
  • ·         Project and time management skills
  • ·         Must have repeated success negotiating PPAs with utilities
  • ·         Needs to understand permitting, site acquisition, interconnection, project management, deal negotiation, financial modeling of renewable deals etc.

General Requirements:-

  • Ability to travel frequently to client sites
  • ·         Proficient with making impactful presentations
  • ·         Good oral and written communications skills  
  • ·         Ability to manage multiple projects in an environment of constantly changing priorities
  • Ability to work independently but within tightly controlled business policies

Key Skills:-

Solar PV, strong engineering and/ or business related background, experience in the development and construction of commercial and large-scale solar PV projects , experience with EPC and O&M contracts, team leadership and complex stakeholder and customer management experience.
