OPOWER is looking for a Director of Corporate Communications & Media Strategy to spearhead all company's external communication efforts. We're looking for a highly intelligent, energetic professional with a track record of building brand awareness, driving key messages home with reporters and journalists and effectively executing a comprehensive communication strategy across multiple channels. This role offers the right individual a unique and exciting opportunity to deliver the next level of nationwide brand recognition for OPOWER. We are looking for an outstanding and passionate leader with outstanding written and verbal communications skill, and a track record of success in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

The Director of Communications will be responsible for promoting the next iteration of OPOWER's corporate brand and messaging with the goal to elevate the firm from a leading industry player to a national brand. The role will own and oversee all corporate communications, including PR, analysts relations, website updates, social media, emails, newsletters, blogs and various corporate speaking appearances. The role will also require working closely with our regulatory and market development team to develop and execute media strategies to advance the company's policy and regulatory goals.

This position reports to the Vice President of Marketing & Strategy.

About You

  • Bachelors degree from a top institution with a strong record of academic track record.
  • 8+ years communications experience, preferably in clean-tech and/or enterprise software and some background in political communications and/or public affairs.
  • You are an outstanding writer and are able to communicate ideas creatively and concisely; you enjoy doing it and are energized by getting the message 'just right.'
  • You are a proven strategic thinker who can see over the horizon without losing sight of short-term needs.
  • You have a track record of building trusted relationship with journalists and analysts by being a reliable source of information and thought leadership in the community
  • You enjoy writing press releases; you are able to bring in example of past work
  • You have worked in a communications capacity in a startup environment; you're a driven self-starter with positive outlook, flexible nature, and tenacious work style that will fit well within OPOWER's hyper-growth environment
  • You have demonstrated success at building and leading a communications team * you're familiar with key performance indicators (KPIs) for a communications team and can quickly identified and address existing gaps
  • You are passionate about looking for new and creative ways to reach our audience
  • You have extensive experience and strong ability to work directly with agencies, copywriters, designers
  • Your communication and collaboration skills are world class.
