Position Summary: 

The Director, Human Resources will be responsible for overseeing the organization’s recruitment, performance evaluation, and employee relations activities. In addition, this role works in conjunction with the Manager, Global  Compensation & Benefits and the Manager, Learning & Development to ensure effective implementation/administration of the organization’s compensation and L&D practices through a staff of Human Resources generalists and local Human Resources representatives.

Responsibilties: 

Recruitment, Hiring & Orientation

  • Oversee the recruitment and selection of both domestic and international employees, ensuring that staffing requirements are satisfied in the most timely and cost effective manner; this includesoverseeing the process for posting  jobs, screening resumes, maintaining electronic recruitment tracking files and hardcopy files, and preparing correspondence to candidates;
  • In coordination with the Vice President, Human Resources, develop recruitment strategies and support departments in assessing their current and future staffing needs;
  • Support the Rainforest Alliance’s field offices in their recruitment and selection of candidates and coordinate efforts with headquarters office;
  • Oversee the development of the Human Resources recruitment resource database;
  • Oversee staff training on recruitment and interviewing techniques;
  • Oversee temporary staffing solutions;
  • Provide orientation for US and international hiring managers on recruitment and performance evaluation processes; and
  • Responsible for working with hiring managers on developing job descriptions.

Performance Management

  • Lead the development and oversight of the organization’s performance evaluation process, including creating and updating introductory and annual evaluation forms, creating and conducting evaluation process trainings, and tracking process completion; and
  • Directly responsible for facilitating evaluations for all US and International employees.

Employee Relations

  • In Coordination with the Vice President, Human Resources,  provide solutions to prevent and resolve employee problems that arise out of or affect work situations; and
  • Act as point of contact for employee relations issues and work through assigned Human Resources staff to resolve.

Policy & Procedure Development

  • Serve as liaison with the Rainforest Alliance international offices providing forms and guidelines to assist them in their Human Resources function;
  • Respond to inquiries on Human Resources related policy and procedures; and

Staff Development & Training

  • Act as point of contact for staff change requests (e.g., title, salary, relocation, etc).
  • Help coordinate organizational staff learning & development activities; and
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: 
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources management or related field required; Master’s Degree preferred;
  • A minimum of 10 years experience as an HR Recruiter/Generalist; experience managing HR staff
  • Employee Relations experience required;
  • Multi location, international recruitment experience highly preferred;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Extremely organized and detail oriented with strong follow-through skills;
  • Excellent computer skills:  Microsoft Word, Excel, and HRIS administration experience;
  • Proficiency in Spanish preferred;
  • Ability to work within a team structure as well as independently, be creative, take initiative,  and possess excellent interpersonal communication skills;
  • Ability to handle sensitive information confidentially; and
  • Willingness and ability to travel at least 10 percent domestically & internationally.
