The Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (CEPF) is a joint initiative of l’Agence Francaise de Developpment, Conservation International, the Global Environment Facility, the Government of Japan, the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, and the World Bank. It is a global program that provides grants to nongovernmental organizations and other private sector partners to protect critical ecosystems. A fundamental goal of the Fund is to engage civil society in efforts to conserve biodiversity.
To date, CEPF has granted $91million to support conservation projects through 1,200 organizations in 14 biodiversity hotspots. Projects have significantly strengthened local organizations in 33 countries, established major new projected areas, improved management of existing areas, and supported innovative projects that benefit local communities.
The Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (CEPF) seeks a Grant Director to join a dynamic team of conservation experts to manage its growing portfolio in the Asia – Pacific region. To date, CEPF has funded $91million in conservation projects through 1,200 organizations in 14 biodiversity hotspots. Projects have significantly strengthened local organizations in 33 countries, established major new projected areas, improved management of existing areas, and supported innovative projects that benefit local communities.
RESPONSIBILITIES: CEPF seeks a Grant Director for Asia – Pacific with significant experience in managing and implementing conservation projects in the region. The Grant Director will work closely with teams of local conservationists to build and manage portfolios of grants that achieve critical conservation objectives. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a wide variety of conservation groups and stakeholders to achieve major conservation outcomes and advances. The main responsibilities of the Grant Director include the following duties:
Build a portfolio of strategically aligned grants that achieve key conservation priorities as defined by local stakeholder in the CEPF Ecosystem Profile
Ensure grant and portfolio compliance with CEPF policies and operating procedures
Monitor portfolio-level implementation, performance, and impact
Assist in communicating the results and lessons learned.
Engage multilateral, foundation, government agencies, and other donors to strengthen CEPF investments and to develop co-funding alliances
Lead the ecosystem profiling process in new regions to ensure stakeholder participation and the use of the best available biological and socio-economic information
Contribute to CEPF daily management and operations
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Master's degree
Required Skills:
- 6-8 years experience in conservation project management or grant making
Preferred Skills:
- Previous experience in Asia preferred
