Description
This is a great opportunity to help address the nutrient challenges in some of our most highly protected environments in East Anglia, namely The Broads and The Ouse Washes.

In East Anglia we want to create a diverse workplace where people are respected, valued and listened to. We’re all different, and by embracing Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) we can become an equal opportunity employer where jointly we all grow and learn together.
It is our ambition to champion diversity through building a workforce as diverse as the communities we serve

You'll work across the Environment Agency and with our colleagues at Natural England to develop and implement diffuse water pollution plans (DWPP) and in doing so you will:

• Bring together monitoring data, modelling, and other evidence on nutrient challenges in The Broads and Ouse Washes
• Work with internal teams and external partners to refine the evidence base and identify measures that will result in positive environmental change
• Secure multi agency agreement and drive identified measures through to implementation
• Engage with other relevant catchment strategies, plans, and projects to integrate and address nutrient challenges, and in doing so develop a sustainable future for our environment

Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. Everyone that joins us is required to undertake training and participate. Please see the candidate pack for more on how you will support with this.

We offer a fantastic benefits package including an attractive salary, flexible working, 27 days annual leave, and an award-winning Pension Fund. See the candidate pack for more details.

Everyone starting in a new role will be welcomed into the team and given all the training and support needed. As part of your comprehensive induction, you'll be provided with all the equipment required for your role.
The Integrated Environment Planning (IEP) team, within Local Operations, contains specialists in water resources, water quality and catchment planning, working across the East Anglia Area.

We are a friendly and supportive team of experienced advisors central to environmental decision making. We work with internal and external partners to collate, analyse and share data, providing the environmental evidence to inform our Area’s priorities, and to deliver actions that maximise benefits for people and the natural environment.
Essential:
• Water quality knowledge and experience

It would be helpful, but not essential, if you had:

• Experience of applying your analytical skills to evidence to explore problems and make proportionate, evidence-based proposals.
• Good organisational skills/discipline and the ability to plan, track, deliver and evaluate work, meeting relevant standards and timescales
• Self-motivated and work under your own initiative and as part of larger, multidisciplinary team.
• Excellent communicator, experienced at making sense of technical information and presenting it in a clear and logical way for audiences ranging from external partners to senior colleagues.
• Effective influencing skills and be able to persuade internal teams and external partners to work collaboratively when developing and delivering environmental outcomes.
• Diplomatic, sensitive and able to demonstrate political awareness when dealing with customers, stakeholders, and communities.

Please also read the generic role profile to understand the key accountabilities and skills needed.
The role will ideally be based either in our Brampton or Ipswich Office. We will accommodate working from home in line with our new activity based model but you'll be required to attend your base location on a regular weekly basis.

This is a full-time post although requests for other work patterns will be considered.

Please note, this role does NOT qualify for sponsorship, so you should contact UK Visa and Immigration (UKVI) or visit https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/uk-visas-and-immigration, where you can seek professional expert advice based on your personal circumstances in regards to options for obtaining right to work in the UK.

Interviews are planned to be held early February 2025 via MS Teams.
