Design Technician, Bristol, UK

My client is a recognised onshore wind developer within the UK wind market. They have been successful in winning a number of high profile bids, to develop and run wind farms throughout the UK. As a key player in the UK wind market they have a strategy to invest in and deliver a significant number of cutting edge wind farm technology sites across the UK and aim to commit to many more farms in the future through ongoing investment.

Position Overview:

Forming part of the development team this role is responsible for securing land and the necessary permissions to enable the construction of wind turbines. You will report directly to the Head of development in the company

Responsibilities:

• ·         Identification sites for wind energy developments and negotiating contracts to secure their availability
• ·         Preparing Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) statements and applications for the planning of wind energy developments.
• ·         Discharging and compliance with planning conditions.
• ·         Undertake technical assessments including noise, access, line of sight and shadow flicker to inform the design process.
• ·         Identify, understand, and interpret the site constraints and requirements in order to produce the optimum site design.
• ·         Create wind farm layouts using GIS and AutoCAD

Education:

Environmental Degree or equivalent

Core Requirements:

• ·         Fluent speaking in English
• ·         Experience working with AutoCAD in the onshore wind market
• ·         Experience using ESRI ArcGIS software in a professional environment
• ·         Digital cartographic and  map production skills
• ·         UK drivers license
• ·         Experience developing Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA)
