Description

My client is one of the leading global solar energy providers. They are a fully integrated manufacturer, EPC and developer of large-scale ground-based and roof mounted solar PV projects. They have  subsidiaries spanning across Europe, USA and the pacific region. They are looking to recruit an experienced executive to join their team in San Diego.


Position Overview:
They Deputy Director will  be responsible for monitoring all daily legal issues including reviewing, drafting and negotiating sales contract, energy project investment and financing contracts of the U.S. subsidiaries of the Group. They will  provide supports and guidance to management and other user departments in compliance issues. They will also assist the revision of the organization policies and procedures to cope with the rapid expansion of the company in overseas, and to coordinate with offices outside U.S. to ensure the consistency of legal and compliance policies. In addition, the successful candidate should provide legal counseling and support in employment and dispute resolution issues.

Responsibilities:-

  • ·         Negotiation and acquisition of lease agreements; securing grid connections and building permits
  • ·         Project negotiations (with diverse project partners like local developers, IPPs or utilities)
  • ·         Monitor all daily legal issues including reviewing, drafting and negotiating sales contract, energy project investment and financing contracts of the U.S. subsidiaries of the Group
  • ·         Provide supports and guidance to management and other user departments in compliance issues,
  • ·         Assist the revision of the organization policies and procedures to cope with the rapid expansion of the company in overseas, and to coordinate with offices outside U.S. to ensure the consistency of legal and compliance policies
  • ·         Provide legal counseling and support in employment and dispute resolution issues
  • ·         Negotiating terms and closing deals
  • ·         Ensure all deals meet revenue and margin expectations
  • ·         Manage projects by setting priorities and expectations, problem solving, communicating ongoing status updates
  • ·         Participating in the draw up of bid documents and contracts
  • ·         Evaluating and selecting offers from contractors
  • Planning and organizing of projects

Education:-

  • ·         Strong educational background (The ideal candidate, would have a legal background)  

Core Requirements:-

  • ·         Should have 7 to 9 years professional experience with reputable law firm or multinational company, preferably with exposure in power plant project investments
  • ·         Strong leadership qualities
  • ·         Excellent commercial experience
  • ·         Project and time management skills
  • ·         Must have repeated success negotiating PPAs with utilities
  • ·         Needs to understand permitting, site acquisition, interconnection, project management, deal negotiation, financial modeling of renewable deals etc.

General Requirements:-

  • Ability to travel frequently to client sites
  • ·         Proficient with making impactful presentations
  • ·         Good oral and written communications skills  
  • ·         Ability to manage multiple projects in an environment of constantly changing prioritie

Key Skills:-

  • ·         Solar PV, Strong educational background (The ideal candidate, would have a legal background), experience reviewing, drafting and negotiating sales contract, energy project investment and financing contracts, experience overseeing legal and compliance policies, team leadership and complex stakeholder and customer management experience.
