Working at the Xerces Society will give you the opportunity to engage businesses as partners in protecting some of the world’s most important animals. Butterflies, dragonflies, beetles, worms, starfish, mussels, and crabs are but a few of the millions of invertebrates at the heart of a healthy environment. Invertebrates are essential to the reproduction of most flowering plants, including many fruits, vegetables, and nuts; they are food for birds, fish, and other animals; they build the stunning coral reefs in our oceans. The Grants and Corporate Giving team is responsible for grants, contracts, and contributions from foundations, businesses, and government agencies; these institutional sources of funding make up 70% to 75% of the organization’s annual budget. You’ll be the first person to fill this new position, and once you join the Xerces Society, the team will include you, the Grants Associate, and as your supervisor, the Director of Grants and Corporate Giving. This team works closely with the Executive Director, Program Directors, and the Communications, Membership and Finance teams. We’ve created this role because we want to deepen our stewardship of the corporate relationships we already have and also tap into new opportunities for businesses to support our mission. You’ll help us develop new outreach materials (print and online), identify new corporate prospects, respond to inquiries from potential partners, and strengthen relationships with businesses that already support our work through donations, sponsorships, commercial co-ventures, and fee-for-service contracts. You’ll also use your writing and design skills on fundraising pieces for other audiences, such as individual donors and foundations. Using Salesforce Nonprofit Success Pack, you’ll keep track of the people who the Xerces Society has relationships with and the follow-up tasks necessary for maintaining those relationships.
