Description |
Coordinator required for interns and volunteers working on sustainable rural development projects in Ecuador with CRACYP, a small, innovative Ecuadorian NGO. The role involves leading ongoing development projects, facilitating intern projects in the area and coordinating the work of volunteers and interns. You will function as the “bridge” between the local community and the interns, helping them to work together and overcome cultural differences.
Development projects mostly focus around organic agriculture and fair trade, but interns bring a wide range of different skills and the NGO also works in education, health and any other necessary areas when possible. You will organize and present at a one-day sustainable development workshop each month for the interns; you choose the other speakers and this is your chance to explore various topics in development.
This is a fantastic opportunity to gain experience in grass-roots sustainable development, working with an internationally respected NGO and partnering with local communities, businesses, organic farmers, and schools. It’s a chance to further develop your leadership skills and is an ideal stepping stone to a career in the sustainable development field.
Successful candidates will:
Two posts available, one starting early July, the other starting November. These are very challenging roles with much responsibility and require loyal, dedicated candidates. Either role offers a great deal of satisfaction and career progression for a fit, healthy, sociable candidate who enjoys hard work and life in the countryside and has a genuine interest in sustainable development and conservation.
