Description

To project manage and provide technical expertise for a range of utility reduction projects mainly in thefood & beverage and manufacturing sectors, along with large commercial buildings. To undertake targeted business development activities to support the acquisition of new work. The role may also include renewable energy and carbon management. This role is mainly UK based, with opportunities to work overseas.

Primary Responsibilities:

1. Manage utility reduction projects and ensure delivery to the client on time, within budget and to expectations.2. Manage and work with other staff, collaborating companies and sub-contractors to ensure project delivery.3. Provide technical expertise to a range of projects across the areas of focus set out below.4. Identify and win new business, whilst developing existing relationships.5. Prepare and support the preparation of proposals.6. Provide progress reports and updates to clients and managers.7. Such other duties of a similar nature as may be required from time to time.

Areas of focus:

1. Engage New Industrial & Large Commercial Clients

  • Complete energy & water reduction scoping audits
  • Formulate ongoing energy management support programmes
  • Engineer practical solutions to industrial problems and opportunities
  • Scale opportunities across multi site location
  • Prepare proposals and contract for new business

2. Support and Manage ongoing Energy & Water Reduction Programmes

  • Provide onsite technical guidance across all aspects of energy/water consumption
  • Formulate energy reduction implementation plans

3. Implement and improve utility Monitoring & Targeting systems

  • Specify new or replacement sub-meters
  • Specify and integrate data collection systems
  • Implement management and low level energy reporting
  • Communicate benefits and drive change

4. Project Manage and deliver the following technical surveys

  • Compressed Air Surveys
  • Boiler House & Steam Systems
  • HVAC
  • Process Refrigeration
  • Process Optimisation
  • Heat Recovery Systems
  • CHP
  • Lighting
Development:

1. Strive to continually improve and progress current skills & knowledge within the industry, in order to remain up-to-date with market progress and new technology2. Show a willingness to progress & further understanding of the Energy & Climate Change industry3. Show a willingness to develop skills & experience in order to move onto a wider field of project activity and in time to move on to higher staff grades

Performance Expectations:

The objectives for the post will be to achieve the following work profile:

  • Project work 80% of time
  • Business Development 10% of time (to achieve new projects >£50k GM)
  • Overhead 8% of time
  • Training & Development 2% of time
  • Value of Projects Managed Typically >£100k per year

The Carbon Project Development business has created one of the largest emission reductions portfolios and has structured groundbreaking and innovative arrangements for the sale and delivery of emission reductions to compliance and voluntary buyers.The Industrial Energy Management and Carbon Advisory teams provide strategic, commercial and technical expertise accrued over two decades to deliver cost reduction, low carbon energy and sustainable development solutions.

Opportunity:

We are seeking consultants to join our Industrial Energy Management team. Key duties will include utilising your technical expertise to identify and support then implementation of utility reduction solutions, in large industrial and commercial building settings. Most of our clients are large international blue-chip organisations. You will be customer facing and manage multiple projects along with client expectations.Applicants must have a minimum of a Bachelors Degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering or a related discipline and hold or be working towards Professional Engineer status.Ideally you will come from a consultancy background, although we will also consider applicants with relevant industry experience in manufacturing, process or food & beverage sectors. You must be able to show excellent planning and organisation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written forms. Applicants with a flair for business development are preferred.This is predominately a UK based role, with extensive overseas opportunities for those interested in travel.
