UNDP Environment and Energy Group (EEG) is based in UNDP’s Bureau of Development Policy and is responsible for providing leadership and technical support to delivery of the Environment and Sustainable Development pillar of UNDP’s Strategic Plan. Its main focus is on helping countries develop the capacity to fully incorporate environmental sustainability into development at national and local, but also global and regional, levels. The principal areas of work are in environmental mainstreaming, environmental finance, adaptation to climate change, and local governance of resources, including energy.
In order to support partner countries more effectively, EEG is updating the external websites and the publications library adding additional resources and enhancing the content. The Environment and Energy Practice Research Assistant will support the Knowledge Management specialist in implementing the updates and creating a new the library in the new content management system in coordination with the BDP Web specialists and UNDP Communication office.
Duties and Responsibilities
Working under the direct supervision of the Knowledge Management Specialist, the incumbent will be responsible for compiling the resources for the websites and library liaising with the team leaders and EEG staff in HQ and regions. The Research Assistant will also undertake additional tasks as directed by the Environment and Energy Practice Group and the Knowledge Services Team. Duties
Compile the list of key EEG publications and create a new library to replace the library, being phased out.
In collaboration with the EEG HQ and regional teams identify key website content and organize it into new template consistent with UNDP service delivery approach.
Conduct research, mainly through web and document searches and networking with Environment and Energy policy advisers and external experts, for knowledge and information needed to enhance the website content.
Publish selected resources to UNDP corporate CMS.

Required Skills and Experience
Graduate degree in development-related field.
2 – 3 years of relevant work experience in an international development context, including conducting research on international development issues.
Effective web and Internet skills (knowledge of web software); knowledge of database systems and other IT applications.
Knowledge of CMS technology and familiarity with UNDP CMS system highly desirable.
Previous work experience with the UN and familiarity with the UN system desirable.
Familiarity with UNDP work and organizational structure desirable.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; research, analytical and writing abilities and the ability to work in teams, especially those covering various disciplines.
Excellent writing and editing skills in English, proficiency in at least one of the other UNDP official languages desirable.
Effective organizational and administrative skills.
