Description

The purpose of the post is to assist in the management and development of the RSPB's bird monitoring, and monitoring-related work in the UK and overseas, and to maintain scientific rigour within this work. The post-holder will lead single-species surveys, work on citizen science within the RSPB and assist in reporting on the results of monitoring programmes to a variety of audiences. Applicants should have either a PhD in ornithology/ecology, or several years experience in leading and developing bird monitoring work. Candidates should have experience in data management and analysis, scientific and report writing skills, knowledge of natural history, as well as bird ecology and identification. Knowledge of sampling strategies, bird survey methods, and indicator development would be particularly useful.
