My client is a leading wind energy project developer. They currently have a pipeline for several projects and require an expansion of their team. Over the years they have developed multi-megawatt projects and their consistent track record has lead to them being one of the market leaders in the UK.
Position Overview:
You will lead efforts to comply with department standards and customer interpretations of standards to minimise risk to the business. Reporting directly to the General Manager of the department developing systems for stock control and ensuring the compliance standards are met within the department.
Responsibilities:-
- · Drive the performance of existing suppliers and qualify new suppliers based on cost, quality, and timely delivery measures
- · To act as the Purchasing function for the department, optimising stock availability, supplier choice, and working capital
- · Develop systems for stock code, part number, BOM, and cost record creation, maintenance, and reporting
- · Negotiate contracts with careful consideration to cost targets
- · Initiate and support projects for cost reduction
- · Take responsibility for purchasing volume whilst ensuring that budgets are not exceeded
- · Actively support supplier claim management
- · To oversee acceptance or rejection of customer terms in ITTs
- · Planning and gaining authorization for continual improvement against Standards.
- · Customer and prospect meetings where Standards input required.
- · Organization and administration of quarterly stock-take
- Leading standards compliance (ISO, HSE, EMS etc) efforts Experience of negotiating contracts with international companies
Education:-
Engineering or economics background and qualification in purchasing
Core Requirements:-
- · Management of suppliers, vendor partnerships.
- · Will have led/participated actively in drive for compliance on business-wide standards (ISO, EMS, H&S…).
- · Experience working with Sage
- · Strong experience working in a Technical/Manufacturing environment
General Requirements:-

- · Ability to understand technical concepts, engineering specs and drawings (an advantage)
- · Task flexibility
- · Time management skills
- · High standard of verbal and written communication
Key Skills:-
Procurement or sourcing or purchasing, engineering, solar, German, management, experience with solar modules, mechanical and electrical parts
