We own and operate a growing portfolio of wind farms around the world, currently totalling over 700MW. RES is also at the forefront of developing renewable energy technologies, with expanding interests in large scale biomass power station development. Our first 100MW project in Northumberland will generate green electricity for homes and businesses, provide 'green collar' jobs and contribute to the regeneration of the area. We are also at the forefront of large scale solar photovoltaic developments in the UK and abroad.

RES UK and Ireland (RES UK&I) now has a vacancy for a Community Liaison Manager.

The Role

Working as part of the England and Wales development team within RES UK&I, and utilising the support of the RES Group, you play a key part in supporting the development of our wind farm, biomass and solar sites in England and Wales. RES takes seriously its duties to fully consult and engage local people in the development of its projects. We are conducting new research and actively exploring exciting ways to encourage local community benefits to flow from our developments.

Based at our head office in Kings Langley, you will work on projects across England and Wales, leading on the development and implementation of engagement strategies with communities, decision-makers and stakeholders to ensure the success of our planning applications.

You will provide PR and communications support at a local and regional level for our projects as they progress through the planning and development process.

Working with the project manager, you will support and lead on local community liaison groups, media relations, exhibitions, opinion polling, building and nurturing supporter networks and the production of leaflets and websites. Key stakeholders and contacts are Local Planning Authoritiy officers and councillors, local communities, local media providers and external consultants. You will also be supporting and advising on RESs engagement with MPs and government advisors on key industry issues.

The Person

  • Educated to degree level, youll be able to demonstrate your experience of many of the following areas:
  • Development and implementation of strategic media andcommunity engagement plans
  • Successfully dealing with planning authorities, project stakeholders, the media and the public.
  • Experience in the production of online and printed content
  • Implementing activity within budget and deadlines
  • Research and insight around current industry trends and developments
  • Managing external consultants
  • Public affairs and political lobbying
  • Ensuring appropriate and accurate responses are drafted to the media and acting as a media spokesperson
  • Delivering proactive issues management planning for our projects and supporting in the delivery of a media calendar for proactive stories
  • This is a public facing role, and persuasive negotiation and excellent communication skills with the ability to engagement people on all levels are an absolute must.
  • This is a role with significant development potential, within a committed and friendly team. Ideally you'll have at least 2-3 years experience in a similar role. Experience of renewables or conventional power generation would be useful, but not essential for the right candidate.
  • You will be required to travel extensively throughout England and Wales.
