This post is full-time for 5 years subject to funding and is part funded by Scottish Land Fund (SLF) and South of Scotland Enterprise (SoSE).

Community Forest Manager Job Description

The successful candidate will join the project at its exciting outset, overseeing setting up of the forestry infrastructure and woodfuel enterprise, alongside development of community-based recreation and a rural skills training centre.

The manager, operating under the guidance of the Directors, will also oversee sustainable management of the forest. This is a small forest with a lot going on! We are looking for a skilled and highly motivated individual to manage the site, implement our Management Plan and develop the long-term sustainability of the woodland as a community asset, including securing external contracts.

We require a person with relevant qualifications and demonstrable experience in forest management, excellent general organisational and management skills, experience of working with community-led organisations, a good attention to detail, excellent communication skills and an ability to motivate and inspire others with a commitment to development at a local level.

Hours: 37.5 weekly

Salary: £31,000 pa. Pension contribution in line with current legislation.

Contract Length: 5 years, subject to funding
