The forthcoming acquisition of Rainforest Alliance’s certification unit will expand NEPCon’s geographical coverage to include North America, Latin America, Africa and all of Asia. Our organisation and our activities are growing, and in this context we are looking to hire a Communications Specialist based in Latin America.
The Communications Specialist is a key member of the NEPCon Communications Team, reporting to the Communications Manager, who will implement a wide range of internal and external communications activities across the organisation. The successful candidate with build and deepen their skills in communicating about sustainability with a variety of audiences.
Please note that this position is based in Latin America.

Focus of the role
- Support implementation of multiple elements of the NEPCon communications strategy, including both external and internal communications.
- Collaborate with teams to develop high quality, creative communications content for social media, events, journalists and media, training and fundraising materials, web pages and a variety of online channels.
- Generate a wide range of written messages and materials targeted towards businesses, governments, NGOs and other professionals.
Responsibilities
External communications
- Develop and update NEPCon’s public-facing promotional materials such as info/factsheets, brochures, banners, presentations, how-to videos and disseminate in appropriate channels.
- Create content for articles, press releases, case studies, web pages to raise awareness, engage stakeholders and promote the organisation.
- Collaborate with teams to produce creative content in various formats (text, graphics, videos) for NEPCon social media channels (LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube). Monitor performance to grow reach and engagement.
- Provide communications support to events including placing articles in external channels, production PR materials and promotion of the events in appropriate channels.
- Coordinate with relevant teams to ensure timely updating of information on website and coordinate additional web development as required.
- Coordinate media requests and monitor exposure in the media.
Internal communications
- Support teams (fundraising, training, etc.) to develop consistent and clear written materials for targeted audiences.
- Respond to communications inquiries and provide guidance on adapting communications products for local office use.
- Maintain photo and video libraries and contribute to internal reporting processes.
Professional requirements
- You hold an undergraduate or postgraduate degree in any relevant subject.
- You have minimum 4 years of experience in a role primarily focused on communications. Experience working in the certification, environmental or developmental sectors would be an advantage.
- You are proficient in a wide range of communications tools, design software and Web CMS systems.
- You are an experienced and confident writer with the ability to convey complex messages in high quality communications materials.
- Excellent oral and written English and Spanish and the ability to interact culturally, linguistically, and diplomatically with diverse internal and external individuals. Portuguese proficiency is an asset.

Position details
- Work time: 40 hours/week
- The position refers to our Communications Manager, based in Vietnam
- Working location: Preferably one of our offices in Mexico (Durango), Guatemala (Guatemala City), Peru or Costa Rica. Other locations can be considered for exceptional candidates (Latin American time zone).
- Salary commensurate with qualifications
- Expected starting date: as soon as possible
