The Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) is a global not for profit organisation, established by WWF and Unilever in 1999 to address the problem of unsustainable fishing and to ensure healthy oceans for the future. Our mission is to use our ecolabel and fishery certification program to contribute to the health of the world’s oceans by recognizing and rewarding sustainable fishing practices, influencing the choices people make when buying seafood, and working with our partners to transform the seafood market to a sustainable basis. The Danish fishing industry is very committed to the MSC programme and Denmark is amongst the top-10 markets in the world for MSC labelled seafood. Danish consumers are amongst the most informed in the world about the MSC programme, about 40% of Danish consumers recognize the MSC ecolabel. For several years the MSC has run nationwide multi-retailer campaigns in Denmark, together with large retailer groups and key seafood producers – with the aim of raising awareness of the MSC ecolabel and MSC’s organizational profile in Denmark. Information on the roleWe are now seeking an experienced and dynamic manager to continue to drive MSC’s marketing and communications activities in Denmark. The primary focus for the manager is to develop and implement successful activities to build wider and deeper awareness of the MSC programme in Denmark and encourage increased uptake of MSC labelled products in assortments of seafood distributors, retailers and foodservice companies. Part of the MSC’s Scandinavian and Baltic Sea team, the Communications and Marketing Manager will act as first point of contact for media and general enquiries in Denmark and will play a key role in maintaining the credibility of the MSC programme. The applicant should have a university degree or equivalent experience, as well as experience in a similar role, preferably with responsibility for managing and/or operating promotions and marketing campaigns with multiple partners. Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate complex issues in a clear manner to a wide variety of audiences across diverse channels (online, TV, print, radio) is needed. Excellent spoken and written communication skills in both Danish and English are essential. Application ProcessApplications close 18 October, 11.59 PM (CET).
