Job Purpose
The Country Director will be responsible for continuing the development, compliance and effective implementation of Panthera’s operations in Colombia. S/he will continue leading, representing and growing Panthera’s work in Colombia along with the Regional Director. The Country Director supervises all project coordinators and other key areas like business development, human resource management, and finance.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead Panthera’s strategy and execution in country, ensuring timely and effective delivery of strategic and program objectives.
- Oversee country office Finance, Operations and Administration ensuring sound processes.
- Represent Panthera in Colombia and help maintain the organizations public standing and reputation in the country.
- Engage with all supporting areas in HQ, mainly finance, business development and HR.
- Report and manage the relationship with the BOD, lead meetings, maintaining minutes and ensure compliance with in-country NGO Board requirements.
- Oversee the implementation of organizational policies, procedures and processes.
- Oversee project implementation and work with project teams to ensure project implementation is on time, target, and budget.
- Develop field work as needed in key sites and coordinate field skills trainings.
- Provide regular and timely updates on program progress and challenges to the Regional Director.
- Oversee general budget management. Review regional program financials ensuring accurate project allocations. Oversee project managers with the timely processing of donor financial reports.
- Lead proposal development, including by helping to develop and review initial budgets.
- Act as representative of the organization as needed as appointed by the Regional Director.
- Build and manage relationships with donors and work closely with project leaders and partners on project updates, site visits, and other communication.
- Monitor donor reporting requirements and proactively address inquiries to maintain positive relationships with donors and effectively manage expectations.
- Maintain and grow relationships with key national and local partners key to accomplish organizational goals.
- Recruit, retain, and manage high quality and effective in-country staff. Lead, mentor, and empower in-country staff.
Skills and Experience
- 10+ years of relevant professional experience
- At least three years of experience in a leadership role
- Experience in nonprofit management and fundraising
- Bilingual, knowledge and English proficiency. Portuguese desired. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Spanish.
- Strong organizational and time management skills

- Highly organized and self-motivated with the ability to self-manage
- Demonstrated high level of attention to detail and the ability to multi-task across activities, geographies and projects
