Minimum Requirements : Qualifications ? Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science / Environmental Engineering / Engineering / Energy Management (or similar) - (Essential) ? Responsible Person or Lead Auditor under the NSW GGAS Scheme and/or Commonwealth GHF Program - (Highly desirable) Skills ? Well developed verbal and written communication skills ? Proficient at Microsoft Excel, Word and Powerpoint Knowledge ? Greenhouse accounting and verification principles and tools ? Carbon abatement and mitigation technologies ? Government greenhouse and climate change policy and industry programs including GGAS and GHF ? Industry greenhouse rating and benchmarking standards such as Green Star, ABGR and NABERS ? GreenPower (or similar accredited energy products) ? Australian Carbon Off-set Industry ? International and local emission trading schemes ? Kyoto CDM fundamentals ? Carbon sequestration and geo-sequestration technologies ? Energy efficiency in the in the commercial building; mining and industrial sectors ? Principles of energy auditing Experience ? Greenhouse inventory and accounting in a variety of industries (essential) ? 5-8 years in an Engineering/Science/Environmental consultancy business (preferred but not essential) ? Auditing or verification under existing State and Federal greenhouse and GreenPower accreditation schemes (highly desirable) ? Carbon abatement strategies and technologies at a project, site or company wide level (desirable) ? Energy efficiency in commercial and/or industrial premises and/or mining (desirable) Personal Attributes ? Organised - outcomes and deadline orientated ? Initiative - self starter ? Focussed - good time management skills ? Team player ? Honesty and Integrity ? Health and Safety conscious Job Description : Position Summary The Climate Change Specialist is responsible for providing consulting services in greenhouse and climate change within the NSW-ACT region. The person will have good communication, consultative and networking skills, commensurate with their level of experience, and be capable of working to tight deadlines. A comprehensive understanding of the greenhouse and climate change agenda, government programs and industry response within Australia is essential. Responsibilities/Objectives ? Support the further development of URS's Climate Change services in NSW/ACT ? Advise URS clients on market, technical, political and physical risks and opportunities associated with greenhouse accounting, greenhouse accreditation schemes, greenhouse and carbon abatement strategies and the carbon offset industry ? Support the marketing of URS services in greenhouse and climate change to existing and new URS clients ? Lead or support the preparation of proposals for services in greenhouse, climate change and energy efficiency ? Project manage and/or provide technical input into URS greenhouse, climate change and energy efficiency projects ? Assist URS's National Greenhouse Coordinator and/or business network leader in promoting URS's national and regional greenhouse and climate change capabilities
