Description

ERM seeks a Climate Change Practice Leader to lead the climate change practice in the Southern Division of the U.S, while playing a lead role in expanding our climate change business in the U.S. The successful candidate will be part of ERM’s global climate change services ‘core team’ with direct access to global opportunities. The role will focus on development of business in the major economic sectors: oil and gas, chemicals and pharmaceuticals, manufacturing, transportation, power, and mining. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in environmental consulting services and business development, with the ability to bring in $5+ million of new business to the ERM portfolio within the first 3 years of employment. This is a partner-track opportunity for a senior-level professional looking to advance their career to the next level with a global environmental leader, and to make a significant impact in successfully implementing ERM's global strategy.  Ideally this position will be based in Houston, TX, but consideration will be given for candidates in Austin, Atlanta, Raleigh, or other ERM office in the Southern U.S.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and execute a business plan aimed at producing (on average) $2 to $3 million per year in net revenue over the first 3 years, continuing on pace thereafter.
  • Lead business development activities in the climate change services practice, including origination of leads, needs analyses with potential clients, and development of successful business proposals. Work both independently and in conjunction with ERM’s sales team.
  • Contribute to the expansion of ERM’s existing climate change services practice, principally in the area of strategic advice and enterprise solution development around management of carbon as a business asset/liability.
  • Help to expand the team of climate change practitioners in the Southern Division of the U.S., both through development of existing technical staff and recruiting of new staff.
  • Lead execution of climate change services for clients, including project management, project delivery, and team leadership.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • 10+ years of experience delivering climate change support services (at least 5 years from a consulting services platform), including experience in business development, project management and execution, and team leadership.
  • Bachelors in a relevant technical field.  Masters in technical field or business management preferred.
  • Knowledge of evolving carbon regulatory regimes relevant to U.S. businesses, and experience developing enterprise-level solutions related to management of carbon as a business asset/liability.
  • Familiarity with the technical aspects of the range of climate change services provided by ERM (e.g., emissions inventory/verification/monitoring, GHG advocacy, energy efficiency, carbon capture and storage, etc.).
  • Established relationships within the climate change community.
  • Established relationships with large-scale, private-sector industrial companies (with preferred emphasis on the energy sector).
