  • Salary: $60 954 - $72 095 per year, plus an additional Personal Staff Allowance ($23 523)

The Climate Change Campaigner is responsible for identifying campaign opportunities to progress action on climate change that support the Leader's parliamentary and community work. They will ensure that Greens' supporters are informed of the work of the Leader and the Australian Greens, including production of print materials and online content. The Climate Change Campaigner will be required to coordinate events and functions, such as community meetings and public engagements.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Liaise with community groups and stakeholders concerned with climate change and maximise opportunities for the Leader's involvement.
  • Develop community organising, face to face and other direct engagement campaign strategies and activities, and manage the ongoing engagement of supporters.
  • Create and implement digital/online actions.
  • Create and manage website and social media content.
  • Coordinate the production and distribution of internal & external publications (newsletters, leaflets, postcards, videos etc.).
  • Organise events and functions, such as community meetings, rallies or forums.
  • Liaise with Greens MP offices to develop capacity to run a national campaign on climate change.
  • Identify climate change campaigning opportunities that support parliamentary work and parliamentary opportunities.
  • Other duties as directed.

Selection Criteria

  • Sound knowledge of climate change policy and campaigns.
  • Demonstrated experience in campaigning including creation of a campaign strategy, creation of digital actions, the distribution of materials and social media engagement.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and work to tight deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to work as part of a team, under time constraints and strict deadlines.
  • Computer skills in word processing, database packages, design software and email.
  • A thorough understanding of the Australian political context, and of the international political context of climate change.
  • Understanding and commitment to the Australian Greens' principles and policies.
  • Experience working in a political, community or advocacy organisation.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and experience.
