An opportunity to shape fisheries management on the River Tweed The River Tweed Commission (RTC) seeks an experienced manager to lead a small team based next to the River Tweed, near Melrose. The role is as the chief executive for two organisations:
Together, the two organisations have the responsibilities for the management, preservation and increase of all freshwater fish in the Tweed & Eye Fisheries District. The postholder will work with the Chairman of the two organisations, other office holders, the RTC Committee and the Board of the Tweed Foundation, and has principal responsibility for the management, compliance and external communication of RTC and the Tweed Foundation. The postholder will be expected to contribute to the debate on changes to the management of Scotland’s rivers. You should ideally have a degree level qualification or equivalent, a strong work ethic, sound experience in a similar management role and excellent leadership qualities. An interest in rural sports and the countryside and some knowledge and understanding of the wild Atlantic Salmon sector would be advantageous. Further key skills include a solid understanding of general business practice alongside experience in dealing with a diverse range of stakeholders, including local and national government. Sound experience in budget setting and management are required, along with excellent communication and IT skills. Experience of running a charity is desirable. Fund-raising abilities are essential. Salary will be dependent on experience and qualifications. A company vehicle, benefits and a relocation package are offered.
