Carbon Reduction Manager

We are looking for an energetic and passionate individual who can help us reduce our carbon footprint and energy costs.

Reporting to the Sustainability Manager you will be responsible for delivering our carbon management programme across all operational Council buildings. You will conduct energy audits, project manage the implementation of energy saving measures and renewable technologies and handle a substantial invest-to-save fund. You will have significant experience in carbon / energy management and have strong skills in project management, data analysis, MS Excel and working with other people.

You will join a small but creative, energetic and passionate team. The Sustainability Unit was set up in 2007 to take the lead in corporate energy management and wider sustainability initiatives, catalyse community involvement, and provide free advice and support to local businesses. To date we have worked closely with the Carbon Trust to benchmark our emissions and identify and implement a range of suitable projects. To further reduce our carbon footprint and energy costs, as well as enhance our reputation and influence, more needs to be done.

This is an exciting time to be at Richmond Council and this post represents a great opportunity to implement new technologies across a wide range of sites. We have made tackling climate change a corporate priority and are the only London borough to have adopted all three climate change National Indicators in our Local Area Agreement. Your position at Richmond will be supported by a real commitment to saving energy and becoming a low carbon organisation.

We are looking for an individual with experience and evidence of success in delivering energy saving projects. You will have a relevant qualification and can demonstrate a sound knowledge of a wide range of technical issues in an energy / carbon management context. You will be self-motivated with excellent project management skills and be able to build effective relationships with a range of stakeholders. This post is offered as a three-year fixed term position.
