Carbon Portfolio Management, Seattle, West Coast, USA, $110,000

 

My client is an international organisation dedicated to reducing carbon emissions by helping investors in realizing sustainable solutions. Their focus is primarily on emerging markets across Asia, and Latin America and they are now looking for a dynamic individual to join their rapidly growing team.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Involved in the analysis and of carbon markets so as to identify potential projects and help steer the company in line with market developments
  • Will source financially and commercially viable energy efficiency or low carbon project opportunities eg. CDM (Clean Development Mechanism) or other VCS/UNFCCC approved projects
  • Will develop and write project idea notes (PIN) and project design documents (PDD)
  • Will be dealing with investors so as to explain risk versus benefit  ratios with the goal of gaining their commitment to a project
  • Will have to deal with contractual and project management aspects as part of their day to day activities

 

Requirements:

  • Must be fluent in written and oral English and Korean.
  • 2-3 years experience in carbon portfolio management and knowledge of CERs and VERs under the Kyoto protocol is essential
  • Must have extensive market knowledge so as to hit the ground running
  • MSc in Environmental Sciences or Energy Sciences is preferable but experienced candidates with alternative backgrounds will also be considered
  • Must have experience in writing or drafting PDDs
  • Strong technical background with the ability to identify potential projects is essential.
  • Excellent organizational and management skills required as you will be working to tight deadlines in a very fast paced environment
