Description

I am looking for volunteers who can stay one year to help with an observational study of life history strategies in wild capuchin monkeys. These monkeys have been studied for 19 years, and we know their genetic relatedness and life histories to this point. Now we are documenting their first attempts at parenting, their migration strategies, and their means of coping with stress. Assistants will collect behavioral data and fecal samples. Room and board is provided, and airfare up to $1000 will be reimbursed upon completion of a 1-year contract. For more information (project publications, photos, etc.) see http://www.sscnet.ucla.edu/anthro/faculty/sperry/jobs.html
and be sure to read the 20-page guide describing the working conditions before applying. The book "Manipulative Monkeys: The Capuchins of Lomas Barbudal" (available on Amazon) also provides a thorough account of the research project.
