The capercaillie is one of Britain's rarest and most iconic species of bird. The Capercaillie Project is a partnership between RSPB, Scottish national Heritage and Forestry Commission Scotland. The postholder will support the Capercaillie Project Officer in delivery of the Capercaillie Biodiversity Action Plan and the provision of advisory support to partners in the public and private sectors. They should have experience in working in ecology and undertaking bird surveys and must show initiative, ability to communicate to a wide variety of groups and working in small teams. Knowledge of woodland grouse ecology, forestry and GIS would be desirable.?
