Call for Interest for Grantholders: Desertification Land Degradation and Drought in Latin America

Action DESERT (http://desert.jrc.ec.europa.eu) is
developing tools for drought and desertification
assessment and monitoring from regional to continental
scales.
In the context of the project we are looking for a scientist
capable to apply and improve drought monitoring indices
as well as a suite of desertification indicators for Latin
America.
The ideal candidate should hold a PhD degree in
geography, climatology or related environmental sciences
(or a University degree and 5 years of research
experience after the university degree giving access to
doctoral studies).
Experience in the analysis of meteorological data and in
the application of GIS and remote sensing techniques is
required. Knowledge of GIS and image processing
software including programming skills is essential.
Good knowledge of spoken and written English is
required. The knowledge of Spanish and/or Portuguese
language would be an advantage.
Relevant publications and presentations should be
highlighted.
