Description

My client is a well established player in the European solar photovoltaic market. They acquire and develop large solar PV projects, ground based, of 1MW+ in size, across Germany, Italy, France and the CEE region including the Czech Republic and Bulgaria. They have seen a lot of success in the market and are looking to capitalize on the potential that is clear for all to see. For this reason, they are looking to bring on a business development manager to lead the company’s growth through 2011 and onwards.

 

Position Overview:

The business development manager will need to have both technical and commercial acumen to ensure that the projects that they originate are not only technically feasible but also economically viable. It is key that you are able to develop relationships, have strong negotiation and pricing skills and also have the technical understanding to ensure that projects are being completed correctly.

 

Responsibilities:

  • ·         Assist the project development team responsible for the origination, development and sales of international large scale solar photovoltaic (PV) projects up to financial close
  • ·         Identify, assess and create project development opportunities
  • ·         Will report directly to the Head of Business Development
  • ·         Will be conducting market analysis and feasibility and risk assessment studies on a daily basis
  • ·         Negotiation and acquisition of lease agreements and securing grid connections and building permits
  • ·         Assessing profitability of projects and successful development including the preparation of land for construction
  • ·         Identification of project sites, land procurement, licensing
  • ·         Feasibility studies (site qualification, etc.)
  • ·         Project negotiations (with diverse project partners like local developers, IPPs or utilities)
  • ·         Project financing

 

Education:

  • ·         Educated to BSc/MSc level in mechanical engineering, Economics or related fields

 

Core Requirements:

  • ·         Must have extensive experience in identifying and assessing project development opportunities
  • ·         Have a strong knowledge of debt and/or equity financing
  • ·         Must have excellent negotiation skills
  • ·         Have experience in conducting market analysis and identifying new opportunities.

 

General Requirements:

  • ·         Must be willing to relocate to Rome
  • ·         Speak Fluent Italian and English
