Business Development Executive - Sweden

Job Description: Business Development Executive

Report to: Initially to Head of New Markets & Technologies and in due course to Country Manager, Sweden.

Location: The role will be based in Stockholm. However it will require extensive travel within Sweden and business trips to Dublin.

Summary: Airtricity is seeking to appoint a Business Development Executive in Sweden. The role will be responsible for discussing scope for co-operation in the development of wind farms with potential partners in Sweden. It will also involve progressing with the acquisition of identified Greenfield development sites with individual land owners and municipality authorities.

Business Development Executive Role

The Business Development Executive will be working with conjunction with the Business Development Manager in Stockholm to deliver business targets set for the Swedish Business Development unit. The role will therefore be wide-ranging and expected to cover all aspects of early wind farm development activities, (identification of sites, wind analysis in conjunction with WARS, negotiation of land control, analysis of grid and early stage project economics).

The Business Development Executive will work with the Business Development Manager and be supported by the central function of WARS, engineering, turbine procurement and corporate finance.

Key tasks will include the following:

• GIS modelling to identify and prioritise Greenfield opportunities in Sweden
• Site visits and further assessments of each site
• Land owner identification
• Analysis of regional plans established by local and regional authorities
• Liaison with landowners, municipalities and wind farm developers to achieve Airtricity’s business objectives in Sweden
• Negotiation of land leases and rights to utilise land in Sweden for the development of wind farms.
• In conjunction with other developers, identification of potential joint venture opportunities in Sweden and assisting in the negotiation of the terms of such joint venture arrangements.
• In conjunction with grid companies, assessment of the likely costs and feasibility of connecting potential wind farms.
• Undertaking high level economic screening analysis of potential projects, using Airtricity’s PET and other tools.

Education and Experience:

• Degree qualified, preferably in a numerical discipline
• Detailed knowledge of wind farm development process and experience of bringing projects through to financial close stage
• Proven track record of project managing a development pipeline
• A minimum of 3 years experience working on wind farm development

• Ability to present effectively business cases for development assets
• Willingness to travel and flexibility in working environment is a key requirement
• Fluency in English
• Ability to speak Swedish would be an advantage
• High levels of energy and self-motivation
