Business Analyst

The position is for a Business Analyst who is able to work as a part of Group Strategy. This will be a varied role that covers market evaluations, business planning, investment appraisals and policy evaluation. Key tasks are likely, but not exclusively, to include;

• Developing sets of scenarios for electricity prices and renewable energy support for each of the markets that RES operates in or is looking to operate in.
• Developing an agreed internal perspective of the fundamental market drivers.
• To support the group business planning process.
• To evaluate new market opportunities.
• To evaluate commercial risks and opportunities in new and existing markets.

The candidate will be required to critically evaluate reports provided by independent analysts and on the basis of this evaluation, they will be expected to develop consistent and internally robust projections for revenues over the long term which can stand up to independent scrutiny.

We would expect the candidate to have or be able to quickly develop a detailed knowledge of:

• Electricity markets and how they function.
• Renewable energy policy.
• The energy supply chain.
• Modelling techniques for financial/commercial evaluation.

Candidates Background/Skills

We would expect this position to be most suited to a candidate with high level of education, a keen interest in economics or energy economics, with research experience and experience in the energy industry. The candidate will be required to demonstrate:

• Excellent Excel spreadsheet skills.
• Forecasting and modelling ability.
• Ability to summarise and present complex ideas/problems in concise memos, presentations or papers.
• Ability to communicate and justify their findings to a non-technical audience.
• Ability to organise and prioritise their own research agenda and use limited time and resources to the greatest effect.
• Ability to see the big picture and commercial/business implications of information.
