350.org is looking for a brilliant Associate Director for Network Development, to join as part of the Global Movement Support Directorate, in the Campaigns and Organising Department. The deadline for applications is 12pm EST on December 19th, 2022. About 350.org 350.org is building a global grassroots movement to solve the climate crisis. Our online campaigns, grassroots organizing, and mass public actions are led from the bottom up by thousands of volunteer organizers in over 188 countries. 350.org works hard to organize in a new way—everywhere at once, using online tools to facilitate strategic offline action. We want to be a laboratory for the best ways to strengthen the climate movement and catalyze transformation around the world. The values that guide and drive our work are listed here. About the Associate Director of Network Development Position The Associate Director of Network Development is part of the Global Movement Support Directorate, in the Campaigns and Organising Department. This role will focus on supporting the quality of one of 350.org’s key tactics in our theory of change, our belief in the power of growing the climate movement through collaborating with and connecting local groups and affiliates. We centre equity in our approach to this work by supporting efforts of growing leadership, building power and taking action with the communities hit hardest by climate and other, connected crises. Success in the role would look like: Strong and strategic development of local groups and affiliates* within 350, through: Powerful, trusting relationships and spaces that drive shared growth plans with learning and vision within the local groups and affiliates; identifying strategic opportunities for movement generosity and support for local groups and affiliates; development of new strategic growth plans, particularly with most effective local groups and beyond existing list of affiliates; contributing to strategic alignment between global and regional departments and local groups/affiliates on priority projects across the organisation. The role will collaborate closely across the organisation to achieve these successes, particularly with: regional team Leads/Directors and organisers; global campaigns and communications staff; and Development and Fundraising teams. *By “local group” we mean a local organising/campaigning group that 350 staff regularly interact with as part of our global network, such as a 350 Group, Fossil Free Group, Student Led Local Group, Community-Based Org, or a Partner or Alliance/Network that is viewed as a local group. In this context, ‘local’ means that the group is rooted in a geographic place. Affiliates refer to national or state/province-level groups that are registered organisations with their own staff and budget. Duties and Responsibilities
