We need a well organised person to help manage our new reserve in the Aire Valley consisting of reedbed, wet grassland, open water, woodland, and dry grassland. To add to our small team of nature reserve staff, we are looking for an enthusiastic person with all the practical skills required to organise and carry out all the day to day management/estate work around a new and soon to be busy nature park comprising of reedbed, wet and dry grassland and recently planted woodland. Ideally you'll be highly skilled and qualified in practical conservation management work and infrastructure maintenance, be a competent bird surveyor, and be an enthusiastic, tactful and very diplomatic communicator/ambassador for the RSPB. The post will also provide leadership for a large volunteer team, requiring excellent communication, people engagement and organisational skills. Must have: Certification: felling small trees (chainsaw), brushcutter, pesticide use and application. Excellent bird I.D. and survey skills and UK wildlife knowledge, practical reserve work skills, driving licence. Desirable: Certification: off road 4x4, tractors, felling medium trees (chainsaw), good computer skills.
