The Council is seeking to recruit to a small team of existing Local Nature Reserve Officers in the Countryside Access Team.The post holder will be responsible for managing a range of Local Nature Reserves and an array of habitats, coastal sites, woodland and parkland landscapes, alongside smaller picnic sites.The successful applicant will need to have experience of landscaping and ground maintenance work, site surveys, organising public events, small scale works, liaising and working with volunteers and the community sector, and managing contractors. You will have good communication, organisational and IT skills as well as the strong ability to work on your own initiative, identify tasks, plan and prioritise work and be comfortable lone working in remote countryside.The postholder will be supported by the other Local Nature Reserve Officers already employed, and training will be required. Experience of habitat management, woodland management and grounds maintenance is essential. The postholder has access to a range of machinery and equipment and a strong approach to safety is required.
Workbases are either Driffield, Goole, Carnaby (Bridlington) or Market Weighton.
