Description

This NNR Area Senior Adviser role is primarily responsible for the leadership, coordination and support of National Nature Reserve delivery across Cheshire to Lancashire Area Team and East Midlands Area Team. These Area Teams are responsible for managing some of the country’s most important nature reserves, including the coastal NNRs on the Sefton Coast, Ribble Estuary and Lincolnshire Coast; the Derbyshire Dales at the heart of the White Peak; working in partnership around other iconic NNRs including Kinder Scout and Sherwood Forest; and developing exciting new opportunities to help connect NNRs to the 15 million people resident across the region. Alongside the area-based delivery, where required the role will also support national NNR Operations in delivering improvements across the breadth of NNR operational work.  
 
Key responsibilities:
 
• Establishing clear leadership and an inspirational vision for NNR delivery, this will include planning and resourcing for each Area Team. 

• Working closely with each Area Leadership Group, Team Leaders and Reserve staff including the management of a limited number of NNR staff. 

• NNR Health & Safety support to NNR staff and Team Leaders, including the identification and sharing of best practice, safe systems of work and risk management as applicable to NNRs, and risk monitoring and compliance at both local and national network level.

• Supporting NNR Management Planning and NNR Estate management, including use of CMSi; NNR H&S Checklists and audits; NNR declarations and acquisitions; delivery of local NNR Estate Capital Improvement Programme projects.

• Supporting the development of Area Team local strategic NNR partnerships, including liaison and relationship building with NNR Approved Body managing partners. Internally, the role will support regional NNR networks enabling join up with other national and thematic networks and specialists.
