This project is in the initial phases (planning and building) of a building a new school using low-impact, alternative building methods including but not limited to earth-bags, rammed-earth tyres and recycled trash-filled-bottle construction. The project is looking for interns who have some experience in one or more of the following fields: green building; alternative construction or 'earthship' construction; civil and/or structural engineering; mechanical engineering; chemical engineering (pertaining to bio-diesel project); electrical engineering; welding; masonry; and carpentry. Responsibilities include assisting with construction, contributing new ideas, learning and implementing appropriate technologies.
The project costs £185 per month which includes accommodation with a kitchen to prepare meals, purified water, limited internet access, on-site orientation and training.
